Following the coming into force of the 2000/53/EC Directive – ELV (End of Life Vehicle), all the major vehicle manufacturers have developed a joint project implementing, with the contribution of American Software House EDS, a system better known as IMDS (International Material Data System).
IMDS is an Internet computer system, by which all the direct and indirect suppliers are able to insert the basic information relating to the general composition of their products in MDS (Material Data Sheet) spreadsheets and send them to their customers, along the entire supply chain up to the automotive firm. The reference list is called GADSL (Global Automotive Declarable Substance List) and it includes a list of approximately 90 substances subdivided into “prohibited” and “to be declared” which are expected to be part of vehicle components.
LATI S.p.A., having adhered from the start to the IMDS system, enables its customers to position themselves ahead in meeting the always more pressing requests of the automotive industry. LATI S.p.A. offers for every product bought the respective updated MDS, enabling the customer, upon request through the specific form, to create the MDS of his own component. This enables our customers to put themselves in a situation of advantage in meeting the always greater request for information from the automotive industry.
