A Shared Commitment for the Common Good

On the occasion of the World Recycling Day, LATI confirms its commitment to social sustainability and the Varese area community by joining the “Cuore a Mille Challenge” project, promoted in collaboration with the Fondazione Renato Piatti Onlus.
The objective? To raise awareness among employees about disability and autism, while strengthening the value of participation, well-being, and corporate social responsibility.

LATI: a Story of Enterprise and Social Responsibility

Founded in 1945 in Vedano Olona by the Conterno family, LATI Industria Termoplastici is today one of the leading European manufacturers of technical thermoplastic materials for engineering use.
Led by Michela Conterno, the third generation of the family, LATI promotes an ethical and sustainable family business model, where profit is not an end, but a means to create shared value.

LATI is deeply rooted in the territory and interprets industrial growth as an opportunity to generate positive impacts on the community, offering employment stability, inclusion, and support for social initiatives.

Fondazione Renato Piatti: Care and Support for People with Disabilities

The Fondazione Renato Piatti Onlus, established in Varese by the will of Anffas, operates in Lombardy to assist people with intellectual and relational disabilities and their families.
With 16 centers between Milan and Varese, the Foundation offers health, rehabilitation, and social care services, taking care of over 600 people aged 2 to 84.

Its approach is based on the principle “person with disability, not disabled“, recognizing in each individual uniqueness, dignity, and potential.

The “Cuore a Mille Challenge” Project: Three Challenges, one Goal

The friendship between LATI and Fondazione Piatti began in 2018 and finds new life with the “Cuore a Mille Challenge” project, designed to involve all LATI employees in a collective experience of awareness and solidarity.
Three challenges animated the initiative:

  1. Walk at Schiranna (May 31) – A meeting between LATI employees and people assisted by the Foundation: a moment of empathy, knowledge, and inclusion.

  2. Individual walk – An invitation to take care of one’s psychophysical well-being by contributing, with each step, to a common goal: reaching one million steps, which was greatly exceeded.

  3. Online event on autism (June 28) – An educational meeting during which Foundation experts answered employees’ questions, inspiring the drafting of the Autism Manifesto according to LATI, based on recognizing diversity as uniqueness.

Concrete Help: 270 Hours of Therapy for Children with Autism

At the conclusion of the project, LATI donated 270 hours of water therapy to children with autism and severe disabilities at the Semi-residential Rehabilitation Center in Besozzo (VA).
A concrete gesture of solidarity, which combines the well-being of employees with direct support for the community.

Helping those who help enriches. With this spirit, LATI has been close to Fondazione Piatti for years.
‘Cuore a Mille Challenge’ expresses our values: well-being, participation, and social sustainability.”
Michela Conterno, CEO of LATI Industria Termoplastici S.p.A.

“Walking together with the LATI community and our beneficiaries makes our mission concrete.
LATI has been able to grasp the importance of looking at disability as a shared issue.”
Franco Radaelli, General Manager of Fondazione Renato Piatti Onlus

A Journey of Shared Value

The collaboration between LATI and Fondazione Piatti represents a model of authentic corporate social responsibility, capable of uniting business, people, and territory.
An initiative that goes beyond charity, promoting inclusion, awareness, and collective growth — step by step.
