A recognition that confirms LATI’s concrete commitment to energy efficiency.
LATI has reached an important milestone: obtaining the ISO 50001:2018 certification, the international standard for energy management.
This recognition represents a significant step in the company’s journey towards more efficient use of resources and reduced environmental impact. The certification is the result of thorough work involving all operational areas, demonstrating LATI’s commitment to continuously improving its energy performance and consolidating its role as a responsible and sustainable company.
To better understand the value and impact of this certification, we interviewed Simone LioiEnvironment and Energy Specialist at LATI.

What are the Main Concrete Advantages of ISO 50001 Certification for LATI?

Obtaining ISO 50001 certification brings numerous benefits, both in terms of internal optimization and added value for the market.
First and foremost, thanks to a certified energy management system, LATI has been able to analyze and improve the efficiency of its processes, reducing waste and optimizing consumption. This means a more rational use of energy, with a positive impact not only on operational costs but also on the environment.
Another fundamental aspect is the reduction of CO₂ emissions. The adoption of targeted strategies for the conscious use of resources allows for a decrease in environmental impact, contributing to the fight against climate change. Furthermore, the recognition of ISO 50001 strengthens the company’s reputation, positioning LATI as a reliable partner for customers, investors, and suppliers who are increasingly attentive to sustainability.
Finally, this certification promotes a corporate culture based on continuous improvement. Energy management is not a one-time action, but a dynamic process that involves constant monitoring, technological updates, and active involvement of all staff to maintain high efficiency standards.

What Were the Steps Taken to Obtain the Certification?

The path to obtaining ISO 50001 required a detailed analysis of the company’s energy consumption. LATI began with a thorough investigation of its facilities and production processes to identify areas of highest consumption and define optimization strategies. This evaluation phase allowed for the establishment of clear objectives for energy reduction, accompanied by a detailed action plan to achieve them.
The company then implemented an advanced monitoring system to keep real-time control of consumption, promptly identifying inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement. In parallel, specific training was initiated for personnel, which is fundamental for spreading greater awareness of energy management practices and ensuring the involvement of all departments.
A further crucial step was the conduct of internal audits, through which LATI verified compliance with the required standards, making any necessary corrections before facing the final phase of certification. This structured approach allowed the company to successfully obtain ISO 50001, strengthening its ability to manage energy strategically and effectively.

Are further Innovations Planned to Improve Energy Management?

LATI considers ISO 50001 certification not only an achievement but a new starting point for investing in increasingly advanced technologies and innovative solutions. The company is already developing targeted projects to make energy management even more efficient and further reduce environmental impact.
Among future initiatives, one of the priorities will be the integration of renewable sources, such as photovoltaic systems, to decrease dependence on unsustainable energies. The design of new buildings will also follow low energy impact criteria, using materials and construction solutions that favor a reduction in consumption.
Another area of intervention concerns the optimization of auxiliary systems, i.e., those plants and processes that, while not directly linked to production, significantly affect energy consumption. LATI is studying strategies to further improve the efficiency of these systems, reducing waste without compromising company performance.
