LATI Achieves ISO 50001 Certification: A New Milestone for Energy Sustainability

A recognition that reaffirms LATI’s commitment to energy efficiency
LATI has reached a significant milestone with the achievement of ISO 50001:2018 certification, the international standard for energy management.
This recognition marks a major step forward in the company’s journey toward more efficient resource utilization and reduced environmental impact. The certification is the result of an in-depth effort involving all operational areas, demonstrating LATI’s commitment to continuously improving its energy performance and reinforcing its role as a responsible and sustainable company.
To better understand the value and impact of this certification, we spoke with Simone Lioi, Environment and Energy Specialist at LATI.

What are the key benefits of ISO 50001 certification for LATI?

Achieving ISO 50001 certification brings numerous benefits, both in terms of internal optimization and added value for the market.
First and foremost, with a certified energy management system, LATI has been able to analyze and enhance the efficiency of its processes, reducing waste and optimizing energy consumption. This leads to a more rational use of energy, positively impacting not only operational costs but also the environment.
Another crucial aspect is the reduction of CO₂ emissions. The adoption of targeted strategies for conscious resource use helps lower environmental impact, contributing to the fight against climate change. Furthermore, ISO 50001 certification strengthens the company’s reputation, positioning LATI as a reliable partner for customers, investors, and suppliers who are increasingly focused on sustainability.
Lastly, this certification fosters a corporate culture based on continuous improvement. Energy management is not a one-time action but a dynamic process involving constant monitoring, technological upgrades, and the active engagement of all personnel to maintain high efficiency standards.

What steps were taken to obtain certification?

The journey toward ISO 50001 certification required a detailed analysis of the company’s energy consumption. LATI began with an in-depth assessment of its facilities and production processes to identify major consumption areas and define optimization strategies. This evaluation phase enabled the company to set clear energy reduction targets, supported by a detailed action plan to achieve them.
LATI then implemented an advanced monitoring system to track real-time energy consumption, allowing for the prompt identification of inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement. At the same time, the company launched specialized training programs for employees, essential for raising awareness of energy management practices and ensuring the involvement of all departments.
A crucial step in the process was the execution of internal audits, through which LATI verified compliance with the required standards, making necessary adjustments before proceeding to the final certification phase. This structured approach allowed the company to successfully obtain ISO 50001 certification, strengthening its ability to manage energy strategically and effectively.

Are there plans for further innovations in energy management?

LATI sees ISO 50001 certification not just as an achievement but as a starting point for investing in increasingly advanced technologies and innovative solutions. The company is already developing targeted projects to further improve energy management and reduce its environmental impact.
Among the future initiatives, a key priority will be the integration of renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaic systems, to decrease reliance on non-sustainable energy. Additionally, the design of new buildings will follow low-energy-impact criteria, incorporating materials and construction solutions that reduce overall consumption.
Another area of focus is the optimization of auxiliary systems—those facilities and processes that, while not directly related to production, significantly affect energy consumption. LATI is exploring strategies to enhance the efficiency of these systems, minimizing waste without compromising business performance.
