The LATIECO range of sustainable compounds produced by LATI starting from partially recycled base polymers is going from success to success.
Immediately after the April 2022 announcement of the launch of this family of compounds, LATI embarked on the process, in recognised laboratories, of obtaining the all-important approvals certifying the flame retardant properties of its self-extinguishing LATIECO compounds.
The LATIECO 62 CR V2HF compounds based on PA6 from chemical recycling and reinforced with glass fibre in proportions of between 20 and 30% passed the tests for UL approval and are now supported by a yellow card complete with RTI.
The most recent success is UL’s certification of the first LATIECO compound made using up to 50% of polymer from mechanical recycling. We are referring to LATIECO 66 MR H2 G/25-V0KB3, a sustainable alternative for a classic in the world of self-extinguishing compounds, namely 25% glass fibre-reinforced PA66, which is made self-extinguishing by the presence of red phosphorus.
It is worth noting that for this product LATI has also obtained the challenging F1 rating, which confirms the suitability of the material for safe outdoor use.
UL’s recognition of the compound’s flame retardant properties means that it can be applied in all the sectors in which this type of material is typically used: appliances, both electrical and electronic, power management, and also transport and e-mobility.
LATIECO compounds are also being developed in another extremely interesting area for self-extinguishing materials, namely the railway industry in which LATI is already present with over twenty different proposals for technical applications.
LATIECO 62 CR H2 G/20-V2HF has in fact been recognised, according to the EN45545 standard, as suitable for use in class R22-R23 applications with risk levels from HL1 to HL2 and is therefore a sustainable alternative to similar products obtained entirely from fossil sources.
LATI is unstoppable in its efforts, as shown by the imminent announcement of new steps in the consolidation of the LATIECO range of sustainable compounds: keep up with all the developments on our website: www.lati.com!
