A Winning Collaboration between Innovation and Performance

Aromatic Polyamides: Resistance and Reliability under Pressure

Prolonged exposure to pressurized water vapor represents a complex challenge for technical plastic materials.
Water and temperature promote the chemical degradation of many polymers, compromising the durability of components.

In applications where high temperatures, humidity, and mechanical stress combine, materials that resist heat and hydrolysis are needed, without sacrificing processability.

Aromatic polyamides, such as PA9T, offer the right balance between chemical resistance, dimensional stability, and mechanical strength.
LATI’s LARAMID T compounds are born from this technology, combining:

  • High thermal resistance

  • Natural self-lubrication

  • Minimal water absorption

  • Excellent resilience and rigidity

The chosen material: LARAMID T G/50

In the LARAMID T G/50 model, Robiaplast found the ideal solution for resistance to pressurized steam in the steam valves integrated into its domestic cleaning guns.

These applications work under extreme conditions:

  • Temperature up to 120°C

  • Constant pressure of 8 bar

  • Continuous exposure to steam and water

Thanks to 50% glass fiber, the compound ensures structural robustness and dimensional stability, avoiding deformations even after long cycles of use.
The material also maintains an elongation at break of 3%, an exceptional value for a rigid compound, which has allowed Robiaplast to design functional snap-fits even on components subjected to high stress.

The combination of thermal resistance, mechanical performance, and absence of electronic circuits makes the Robiaplast steam gun a safe, reliable, and long-lasting product.

High-performance Plastic Materials for Industrial Applications

The LARAMID T range demonstrates how LATI’s aromatic polyamides can successfully replace more expensive and difficult-to-process materials such as PPS or PEEK, while maintaining high performance and ease of molding.
