From the shared commitment to sustainability, environmental protection and innovation of Schneider Electric and LATI comes the Multifix Bio line of flush-mount junction boxes.

The project is driven by the desire to reduce the consumption of non-renewable resources and maximize the intrinsic value of products designed for markets and customers who are mindful of the impact of their choices on the environment and society.

Sustainable and Renewable HDPE-based Compound

The products in the Multifix Bio line are manufactured using a LATI compound specifically designed for this application and formulated from completely sustainable and renewable HDPE, the LATIGEA 45/7-GW. The polymer used is a high-density polyethylene obtained from sugarcane processing and certified with Braskem Europa’s I’m Green certification.

The material is obviously free of any toxic substances recognized as such by RoHS and SVHC and is deliberately formulated without pigments of any kind to further reduce the risk associated with the presence of any potentially hazardous compounds.

However, environmental concern cannot disregard the absolute safety of the product. This is why LATI has developed a compound with the essential flame resistance characteristics, specifically a GWFI of 850°C. It is also essential not to lose sight of the necessary mechanical strength, which is indispensable for a product with fixing screws and retention tabs: thanks to the LATI formulation, the Renobox boxes in the Multifix Bio line can be used down to -25°C in complete safety.

The design of the Renobox and the choice of HDPE for their manufacture also ensure total impermeability to liquids and the ingress of foreign bodies, thus guaranteeing absolute safety in the area where live contacts are present: the Renobox Multifix boxes offer IP30 protection rating.

Confirming the validity of Schneider’s choice regarding polymers of sustainable origin is also the expected life of the box, estimated at at least 20 years.

Obviously, the Multifix Bio line benefits from solid certification and documentation support, including the complete Product Environment Profile Ecopassport where every detail regarding the origin of constituent materials, their environmental impact and project sustainability can be consulted. The end-of-life recyclability figure of 88% is particularly noteworthy.

Schneider Electric has awarded the Multifix Bio line the Green PremiumTM recognition reserved for products that comply with the most current and stringent regulatory requirements concerning environmental impact, information transparency and circularity of sustainable solutions.

LATIGEA 45/7-GW is also part of LATI’s line of reduced environmental impact products, together with the established grades of the LATIGEA families, containing polymers from sustainable and renewable sources, and LATIECO, formulated instead from resins from chemical or mechanical recycling.
