In this context, tools such as the <strong>Environmental Product Profile (EPP)<\/strong> allow traditional technical parameters to be complemented by quantitative environmental impact indicators, supporting more informed decisions throughout the entire product life cycle. <\/p>\n\n<p>Regulatory evolution, together with growing attention toward ESG objectives and the reduction of Scope 3 emissions, is leading designers and R&amp;D departments to consider environmental data as an integral part of material selection.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Environmental Product Profile (EPP): Definition and Application Context<\/h2>\n\n<p>An Environmental Product Profile (EPP) is a technical document that summarizes the main environmental impact indicators of a material, calculated through a Life Cycle Assessment (<em>LCA<\/em>) compliant with ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 standards.<\/p>\n\n<p>In the case of LATI materials, environmental profiles have been developed based on primary data and technical-production information, with the aim of providing structured and easily interpretable documentation.<\/p>\n\n<p>The EPP is therefore configured as a <strong>technical-informative tool<\/strong> that allows environmental data to be integrated into design and product development processes.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">EPP in Technical Materials: The LATI Perspective<\/h2>\n\n<p>To further explore the role of Environmental Product Profiles in technical materials, we have gathered contributions from LATI&#8217;s R&amp;D department, specifically from Davide Lotti, Product Sustainability and Analysis Manager, and Sonia Giolo, Product Sustainability and Regulatory Technician.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is an EPP and what is LATI&#8217;s objective with this project?<\/h3>\n\n<p>An Environmental Product Profile (EPP) is a technical document that clearly and concisely summarizes <strong>the main environmental impact indicators of a material<\/strong>, calculated through an LCA analysis compliant with international standards (ISO 14040\/44).<\/p>\n\n<p>The environmental profiles of LATI materials were developed by LCA Dynamics, based on technical-production information and primary data provided by LATI. The project stems from the experience gained internally over the years in the LCA field and now translates into structured documents that make environmental information regarding the most representative compounds in our portfolio more accessible. <\/p>\n\n<p>For LATI, the EPP is a tool for enhancing its products. The goal is to provide customers with <strong>consistent and reliable environmental information on materials, supporting design choices that integrate technical performance and sustainability.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is the substantial difference between an EPP and an EPD?<\/h3>\n\n<p>An EPD (Environmental Product Declaration), governed by the ISO 14025 standard, is an <strong>environmental declaration certified by a third party<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p>The EPP, on the other hand, is a technical-informative document developed <strong>to provide solid environmental data consistent with product category rules, the content of which has been prepared by a third party.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p>In our case, the EPP represents technical support related to LATI materials: a tool designed to accompany the customer in product evaluation.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How does an EPP support designers and R&amp;D in LCA and ESG analyses?<\/h3>\n\n<p>Environmental profiles allow additional information to be integrated into decision-making processes beyond just mechanical, thermal, or rheological performance.<\/p>\n\n<p>This is particularly relevant when comparing different grades within the same family, such as standard variants and variants with recycled content from the LATIECO line, or when evaluating environmental impact in combination with durability, safety, or flame resistance requirements.<\/p>\n\n<p>It is important to emphasize that environmental data do not express an \u201cabsolute ranking\u201d of materials: every application requires a comprehensive evaluation that considers the life cycle, conditions of use, and maintenance of properties over time.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Is environmental data a design parameter today?<\/h3>\n\n<p>Environmental data is now frequently included in material evaluation criteria in sectors such as automotive, electrical\/electronic, and appliances.<\/p>\n\n<p>Alongside performance and costs, the ability to contribute to the carbon footprint reduction goals of the finished product is an increasing element of evaluation.<\/p>\n\n<p>Environmental profiles therefore allow quantitative indicators to be included within material data sheets, facilitating comparative analyses between LATI solutions.<\/p>\n\n<p>However, the balance between sustainability, safety, regulatory compliance, and component durability remains central.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which LATI materials
